Abstract

Perilaku menjaga kesehatan bagi manusia dapat dilihat dari perilaku terhadap kesehatan lingkungannya, Perilaku menjaga kesehatan lingkungan salah satunya mecakup perilaku terhadap sampah dan pengelolaannya (Notoatmodjo,2003). Bertambahnya penduduk dan berubahnya pola konsumsi masyarakat menyebabkan bertambahnya volume, jenis, dan karakteristik sampah termasuk kantong plastik. Masyarakat dalam mengelola sampah masih bertumpu pada pendekatan akhir, yaitu sampah dikumpulkan, diangkut, dan dibuang ke tempat pemrosesan akhir sampah (Suwerda, 2012). Tujuan penelitian adalah mengetahui hubungan pengetahuan karyawan STIKes Aufa Royhan dengan penggunaan kantong plastik. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik dengan desain penelitian crosssectional. Penelitian dilakukan di STIKes Aufa Royhan Kota Padangsidimpuan pada bulan Februari – Juli 2018. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh karyawan di STIKes Aufa Royhan Kota Padangsidimpuan dengan jumlah sampel 38 orang. Variabel independen dalam penelitian ini adalah pengetahuan karyawan sementara variabel dependen yaitu penggunaan kantong plastik. Analisa data univariat dan bivariat. Hasil penelitian terdapat hubungan yang bermakna pengetahuan (p = 0,034 dan r = 0,378) dengan penggunaan kantong plastik dan memiliki korelasi cukup dengan arah positif yang artinya semakin kurang pengetahuan karyawan maka akan semakin banyak karyawan yang memiliki tindakan yang buruk dalam penggunaan kantong plastik. Disarankan untuk melakukan upaya penyuluhan atau sosialisasi dari dinas kesehatan dan dinas lingkungan hidup sebagai sarana untuk meningkatkan wawasan, pengetahuan, bahan masukan dan informasi kepada masyarakat khususnya kepada karyawan STIKes.
