Abstract

Hipertensi adalah keadaan di mana tekanan darah mengalami peningkatanyang memberikan gejala berlanjut pada suatu organ target di tubuh. Hal ini dapatmenimbulkan kerusakan yang lebih berat, misalnya stroke (terjadi pada otak danmenyebabkan kematian yang cukup tinggi), penyakit jantung koroner (terjadikerusakan pembuluh darah jantung), dan hipertrofi ventrikel kiri (terjadi pada ototjantung). Hipertensi juga dapat menyebabkan penyakit gagal ginjal, penyakitpembuluh lain dan penyakit lainnya. Tekanan darah tinggi dapat disebabkan oleh berbagai macam faktor, salahsatunya adalah stres. Stres merupakan suatu respon nonspesifik dari tubuh terhadapsetiap tekanan atau tuntutan yang mungkin muncul, baik dari kondisi yangmenyenangkan maupun tidak menyenangkan. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini Untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang deteksi dini penyakit hipertensi di Lembaga Pemasyarakatan Klas II B Padangsidimpuan. Kegiatan ini berupa penyampaian informasi tentang penyakit hipertansi, cara pencegahan dan dilakukan tindakan pengukuran tekanan darah sebagai langkah awal untuk mengetahui tekanan. Jumlah peserta kegiatan berjumlah 40 orang. Warga binaan lapas terlihat antusias dalam mengikuti kegiatan dan memberikan feedback. Warga binaan diharapkan mempunyai kesadaran  untuk memelihara kesehatan terutama mencegah terjadinya penyakit hipertensi yang tujuan akhirnya adalah meningkatkan derajat kesehatan yang optimal.
