Abstract

ABSTRACT

Individuals are categorized as older adults when they reach the age of 60 years or above. Physiological functions in the elderly commonly experience a decline, particularly in aspects related to energy, activity levels, work capacity, morbidity, and dependence on medical care. These conditions often hinder older adults from performing daily activities optimally. The aim of this community service program was to enhance the knowledge of older adults regarding elderly exercise as a strategy to maintain health, considering the physical and mental health challenges frequently encountered within this population. The methods implemented included health education, socialization, and demonstrations of elderly exercise routines. The results indicated that the elderly exercise program, along with educational sessions on its importance, was successfully conducted. Participants demonstrated increased awareness of healthy lifestyle practices and greater attentiveness to maintaining their physical well-being. In conclusion, the program showed that elderly exercise has a significant positive effect on improving health status and immunity among older women.
