Clean and healthy living behavior, particularly through the habit of washing hands with soap, is a simple yet effective measure to prevent infectious diseases such as diarrhea and acute respiratory infections (ARI), especially among elementary school children. Handwashing is a preventive and control measure for diseases and is part of the Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) program implemented in schools. Handwashing habits are important to teach from an early age because children are the best candidates to apply PHBS values and have the capacity to act as agents of change by promoting PHBS at home, school, and in the community. One of the factors influencing the formation of handwashing behavior is knowledge. The purpose of this community service activity was to identify the relationship between knowledge and handwashing behavior among elementary school students. The method used was an educative–participatory approach, which included delivering educational materials, demonstrations, and direct practice. The results of the health education showed a significant improvement in students’ understanding of the importance of handwashing, their ability to follow proper handwashing steps, and a high level of enthusiasm during the educational sessions at school. In conclusion, health education is effective in promoting clean and healthy living behavior among elementary school students and has the potential to be implemented sustainably through collaboration between schools and parents.
