Abstract

Primary dysmenorrhea is menstrual pain without organic abnormalities in the reproductive system that is commonly experienced by adolescent girls and may reduce concentration and school attendance. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of female students at senior and vocational high schools in Air Putih Subdistrict, Batu Bara Regency, in managing primary dysmenorrhea through education and demonstration of non-pharmacological warm compress therapy. The activity was conducted at the Hall of SMKS Teladan Indrapura on 25 June 2026, involving 97 female students, using counseling, demonstration, and pre-testdanpost-test evaluation methods. Primary data were obtained through interviews and questionnaires, while secondary data were obtained from Free Health Check (CKG) reports and medical records of Puskesmas Indrapura. The assessment results showed that of 97 students, 64 (66%) experienced menstrual pain on the first day of menstruation and 2 (2%) experienced pain throughout the menstrual period. The pre-test results showed 78 respondents (80.41%) had poor knowledge of dysmenorrhea and its management, while the post-test results showed an increase to 19 respondents (19.59%) with good knowledge. In conclusion, education and demonstration of warm compress therapy effectively improved adolescent girls' knowledge in independently managing primary dysmenorrhea.
