Suami mempunyai peranan yang penting, dimana suami sangat dituntut bukan hanya sebagai pencari nafkah akan tetapi suami sebagai motivator dalam berbagai kebijakan yang akan diputuskan termasuk merencanakan keluarga. Oleh karena itu, suami yang mendukung istrinya menggunakan alat kontrasepsi jangka panjang seperti AKDR dapat menjadi pendorong bagi seorang wanita untuk berpartisipasi dalam program pemerintah. Studi pendahuluan peneliti di Puskesmas Binanga Kecamatan Barumun Tengah Kabupaten  padang Lawas terhadap 15 (Lima belas) orang, yang memakai Pil 4 orang, suntik 7 orang, kondom 2 orang, AKDR 2 orang serta MOW dan MOP tidak ada. Hal ini dikarenakan kurangnya dukungan suami akibat minimnya informasi tentang efek dari kontrasepsi dan kurang pembinaan dan pendekatan sehingga ibu cemas dan suami melarang istri untuk menggunakan alat kontrasepsi dalam rahim (AKDR). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan tingkat kecemasan ibu dan dukungan suami dengan pemilihan alat kontrasepsi dalam rahim (AKDR). Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian total sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian adalah pasangan usia subur (PUS) sebanyak 30 resonden. Teknik analisa data dilakukan dengan menggunakan analisis univariat dan bivariat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kecemasan berat (46.7%), sedang (30%) dan ringan (23.3%). Sedangkan suami yang tidak mendukung (53.3%), kurang mendukung (23.3%) dan mendukung (23.3%). Serta yang menilih AKDR (30%) dan Non AKDR (70%). Analisa hipotesis menggunakanChi Square p-value 0,001. Kesimpulan penelitian menunjukkan ada hubungan tingkat kecemasan ibu dan dukungan suami dengan pemilihan alat kontrasepsi dalam rahim (AKDR) untuk mendukung program pemerintah dalam menggunakan alat kontrasesi dalam rahim (AKDR).
